Minimising and Managing Workplace Stress

Being able to decrease stress at work is important for maintaining productivity, wellbeing, and overall job satisfaction. Some stress in any situation can be motivating, like completing a deadline. But prolonged stress can be harmful to your health and wellbeing and overall satisfaction at work.

The leading causes of stress in the workplace are:

·       High workloads

·       Poor work/life balance

·       Stressful work

Stress can also be caused through out of work situations which flow over into the work environment especially as it can be a challenge to switch off your thoughts and feelings to stresses outside of work.

There are signs to look out for which could help you better support employees or work colleagues –

·       Emotional outbursts

·       Arguments

·       Reports of stress

·       Increased sick leave

·       Decreased performance

·       Presenteeism
